Day hike/walk
Westwood lake has is a fun swim area and has an off dog leash on the far side. Great walking/jogging around the lake or part way and back!

Swimming, walking, biking or jogging. Good access around the dams and, again, higher dam has an "off leash" dog area. Warm waters for summer dips. I often see the "Kingfisher" and the Ospreys in the park.

5 minute drive away! Trails hook up to Westwood lake as well (but that's a bit of a hike). https://www.morrellnaturesanctuary.ca/

Take a tiny walk on ferry over for the day and pack a picnic! I can't say enough about the hiking trails and look outs. One of the jewels of Nanaimo!
