Drinks & Nightlife

Walking in the old-town you'll find many bars and terraces. We love to go to have a gordita beer and drinks with the best views at La milagrosa. It's a small hotel, take the lift to the top floor.

Getting Around

The best way to move with public transportation is with the Tram. You have 2 Trains an hour to Alicante or Benidorm. From the Stop El Campello you have more trains. Both destinations have many things to offer. It´s the last stop for the metropolitan area so the normal ticket price to Alicante. Check online the timetables. On weekends you'll have trains during the night, very convenient for exploring nightlife in Alicante. You can buy the tickets on the train.

Food Scene

ALICANTE city centre. If you go with the tram get off at Mercado Central, have a look inside (Monday-Saturday 09:00-14:00), here you can get fish, meat, ham, bread or vegetables. There are also some nice bars to have a drink inside the market. Behind the market we could recommend you to have some tapas or rice at the Bar Damasol (reservation required) or the small bar flor.
El mercado de Alicante es perfecto para comprar pescado fresco, verdura y carnes. Los viernes y sábados es el lugar de encuentro para comenzar el "tardeo".

La Lonja de Pescadores, Monday-Friday 18:00 they start to auction the fresh fish fished that day by the boats of the village. You may want to buy one of the boxes for dinner ;-) For grilling on the barbecue we can recommend “caballa”, “salmonetes” and “sardinas”. If you fancy “pulpo” don’t forget to freeze it before cooking . It´s fantastic quality and with much lower prices that in the fish shop. The auction is in Spanish but the system is easy, they start with a higher price and go down 0,1 eur each time. When they reach the lowest price the fisher is willing to accept they leave the box with the written price in red on it. You can pay cash or with credit card.

1 day excursions

it´s a marine natural reserve, fantastic for snorkeling fans 40 min drive to the port, taxis to the island every 30-45 minutes. You can take one of the boat-taxis in the morning, swimm and snorkel at the island, have a good rice or “caldero” and come back in the afternoon. The beach is stony and will be full of people BUT the water conditions are amazing. If you want to dive there are many companies offering the service in Santa Pola.
