Getting around
Getting around via mass-transit getting around (Muni, BART)
All public transit (including Ferries, Cable Cars and CalTrain) take CLIPPER for payment. Download the CLIPPERCARD app. Google Maps are helpful to navigate mass transit.
Bus stops near the house that go to Balboa Park Muni/BART station and beyond - the "inbound" #43 bus stops across the street at South Hill Blvd and Rolf and goes all over the City. The end of the line is in front of the house. The #8 bus stops a block down Prague, across Geneva.
BART goes towards downtown or south (SF airport). Street cars (MUNI) also go to other areas of the City.

What to pack
Layers and Comfortable Shoes
San Francisco is in California, but not the warm part! A City of micro-climates you can move from one area of the City to another and experience a 10 degree temperature shift. So layers are recommended.
The City is only 47 sq miles, so you can cover a lot of ground in a single day. But only if you're wearing comfortable shoes! Go for function over fashion because "anything goes" in San Francisco!
Customs and culture
Managing the pan-handlers and homeless
Unfortunately, there are a lot of homeless in San Francisco, and the pandemic only added to the challenges. For the most part, you will be left alone. If asked for money, it's best to ignore or simply say "not today".
Getting around
Driving and Parking
Keep your eyes tuned for pedestrians waiting to cross (you can be ticketed for not stopping), and check over your shoulders for cyclists before turning or opening doors.
Right-on-red unless otherwise indicated. Use a cell phone only if hands-free - it’s the law.
Avoid smash/grab and don’t leave anything in your vehicle.
Mind the parking rules posted on signs and never block a driveway. Most parking meters accept credit cards.
