The hike around the lake is idyllic with the boardwalk hovering above the marshes and views of the lake dotted with several different species of waterfowl. We even had a complimentary companion dog to escort us on our walk/hike. He was so adorable!

Casa de los Tratados, Girón, Ecuador
A trip to Girón combines scenic beauty and culture of Southern Ecuador. One interesting sight in Girón is the Casa de Los Tratados. This beautiful Spanish colonial style house is now a museum housing artifacts related to the Battle of Tarqui between Peru and Ecuador. The Treaty of Girón was signed here. I heard of the conflicts between Peru and Ecuador but I did not realize that there were a few recent wars between these two countries.
