While this is really the local hangout for beers and ciders, they also do tasty evening meals, not a great selection but what they do they do well. Plenty of room if you don't mind sharing or finding a spot on the lawn

Drinks & Nightlife
This place is great even if you don't know anyone. You'll end up talking to the people next door to you and in summer you can sit on the grass or around the brasserie. The food is simple but great, pizzas and fish and chips are our go tos. Our favourite cider is the apple crumble, they say it tastes of Christmas and I think they're right! Stays open late if the patronage is there.

Catch the ferry from here to Whitianga and back. A ferry is never more than 10 minutes away and it's a fun experience. A short walk around the peninsula starts from here too.

Lonely Bay is a cute little beach next to Cooks Beach. The track to the beach is steep but its inaccessibility is what makes it so nice. Fantastic scenery! If you are not quite so keen on the walking then stay at the top of the peninsula at Shakespear's Cliff. The history is fascinating and the view, wow!

Sightseeing
So everyone who comes to Hahei is coming to see the famous Cathedral Cove. Right now the walking track to the cove is shut but don't let that stop you, you can still take a boat trip (Hahei Explorer) or a kayak (Cathedral Cove kayaks). Don't think kayaking is just for the young, most people can do it and if you can't there's always help on hand!
