A go-to for Carrollton neighbors. It's remarkably affordable for the quality and quantity of food you get. The kabobs, lamb with hummus, and beef shawarma are my favorites. Get the salad with feta - and sit outside. Pro tip: bring a bottle of wine (they don't serve booze).

One of many great brunch spots. Not overcrowded (very few tourists). Satsuma on Maple St is also terrific - just as close, but in the other direction.

Famous (reservations can be tough) for its lively atmosphere and flavorful cajun/creole cuisine. Pairing with the Maple Leaf just next door makes for a memorable and fun night out uptown.

Small, quaint French place. Limited menu but lovely breakfast or lunch. If in season, the king cake is fantastic (my favorite in the city).

Live music
Maybe my favorite live-music venue in the city. Historic and intimate with a beautiful tile ceiling and a great back patio. Always check the music schedule first, but pairing with Jacquimo's (famous Cajun restuarant next door) makes for an ideal Oak St. night uptown (and easily walkable).

One of the most beautiful urban parks in the country with hundreds of live oaks. The loop (walk/run/bike) is 1.8 miles around. Add another 1.5 miles to run there from my house.
