food options:
The food trucks in Hana are varied and part of the experience. Your options are quite extensive. Thai, Mexican, american, hawaiian (ONO!) . Do note that they tend to close early (5:30-6pm)
there is also 'The restaurant' called such as it's the only one. great food and open til 8 pm.
Getting around
PUBLIC RESTROOMS
Use the restroom before driving the Hāna Highway. Here are places you can stop and you can map it out before you leave for you visit to East Maui

While in HANA: How to tell if back road is closed
When in Hana, look for an orange sign to tell you back road through Kaupo is closed. Sign location is at Hana Fishshack, near the Hasigawa general food court.

What to Do while Driving the Hana Highway
Always stay aware of cars behind you and traffic in general.
Download one of the guide apps to get most out the road.
When parking be courteous.
Only park in designated areas.
It is ok to drive slow and enjoy the road.
PLEASE make liberal use of turn outs to let traffic pass you.
speed up to a safe speed for weather conditions.
turn on your turn signal for a few seconds to let them know you will pull over next chance you get. Use first turnout you find. When they honk 'thank you' honk back to say 'you're welcome'. Throw a Shaka out window if you want.
Getting around
What NOT to Do while Driving the Hana Highway
1) DO NOT hold up traffic.
2)DO NOT drive under 15mph.
3) If being honked at avoid road rage behavior.
The local behind you is FAR angrier than you are.
4) DO NOT park in a way that blocks or obstructs traffic.
5) DO NOT ignore turnouts with cars behind you.
6) DO NOT litter- pack your trash. It is Aloha to also pack other's trash.
