Traveler advice
Ways to save
Only 1 supermarket in Patreksfjordur
I would recommend doing the big grocery shopping before you leave the bigger cities (Reykjavik, Mosfellsbaer, Borgarnes) because there are only 1-2 smaller (and expensive) grocery stores in Patró
What to pack
Slip on shoes, bathing suit and outdoorsy clothes
Bring comfortable slip-on shoes - bathing suits and warm outdoorsy clothes!
Traveling with kids
Nice playgrounds and a hoppubelgur!
The town has a huge jumping area which is called a Hoppubelgur. It’s colorful, so fun and located close to the street Balar.
Don't miss
The liquor store has limited opening hours
In Iceland you can’t buy liquor in the grocery stores so you’ll have to look for Vínbúðin or ÁTVR. It’s located in Þórsgata 10. It’s open on weekdays from 11-18, Fridays from 11-19 and on Saturdays from 11-14. Closed on Sundays!
