City/town information
Urubamba is the biggest town near us in the Sacred Valley. A transportation hub, it sits on the Urubamba River, surrounded by rugged mountains. The town is a jumping-off point for the Maras Salt Mines, hundreds of hillside salt pools dating back to Inca times. Nearby, Moray is an Inca archaeological site defined by concentric terraces. Hang-gliding, paragliding and rafting are popular area activities there. Great for a bit of 'city life' activities.

Traveler advice
Getting around
"Public Transportation"
The main three ways to get around are 'private taxis' (about 25 soles to Urumbamba, 25 soles to Calca, 100 soles to Cusco), 'Collectivo' buses (about 2 soles to Urumbamba, 2 soles to Calca, 7 soles to Cusco), and Mototaxis, great to get around in Calca and Urubamba (a few soles depending on length of trip)
