Ok. This is a must do while you’re at The Shack. We recommend an early start to get the Saturday paper, fresh loaf of ciabatta and a delicious chocolate donut! If you’re heading here for lunch you’ll be doing so with half of SA, so expect a line up out the door and down the street. Worth the wait? Definitely!

We love a chat with the winemaker and enjoying a bottle of McLaren Vale’s finest at this truly memorable cellar door. Our preference for a cellar door experience is one that’s genuine and earthy, where the wine speaks for itself. This is why we love our visits to Samuel’s Gorge. The Grenache is a must and is best enjoyed outside the winery’s 1853 farm shed, with a cheese platter, overlooking the Onkaparinga River National Park.

Saying hi to the wise, old Clydesdale horses that pull the trams across to the island, to watching the albatrosses flying over the pristine waters of Encounter Bay, a visit to Granite Island is a must. We prefer to walk over the causeway rather than purchasing the over priced tickets for the horse-drawn tram.

Our love affair with this picturesque corner of the world was amplified when we sky dived from 14,000 feet above the waves at Middleton. Sure, it’s not for everyone, but if you’re after a truly memorable experience while you’re at The Shack, the team at SA Skydiving are outstanding hosts.
