Lakes - Kayak/Canoeing/Paddle Board/Beaches
About 2 miles down the road is a campground called Moffit Beach (Sacanandaga Lake), and they have a public beach and also a kayak/boat launch. You likely have to pay $8 to enter (depending on the season - unless you walk in-which it’s a nice walk from The Pleasant Shack!) It is absolutely beautiful and very quiet!

Fawn Lake, which is a secluded lake that doesn’t allow any boats with motors, about a mile hike in on a flat path, and no houses on that lake. Very quiet, and lots of wildlife!

Lake Pleasant is about 1.5 miles away, and there is Piseco Lake too, which is a little farther away, we’ve never launched on these two, so not exactly sure about where to enter!

Lewey Lake + Miami River is a beautiful lake destination, surrounded by mountains and wildlife! The lake is relatively small, easy to canoe/kayak/paddle the entire lake. Very quiet, no big motor boats, I believe only small fishing boats are allowed. You enter from the Lewey lake campground, entrance fee is $8. The Miami river is a very beautiful, windy, narrow, slow moving river that goes on for miles. There are multiple beaver damns, but all pretty small to get over. There are a lot of ins and outs, so you may get tangled up a few times on finding dead ends, but you’ll see lots of blue herrings, beavers, possibly small waster snakes(nothing to be worried about), ducks, loons, turtles, and a whole lot more!! I highly recommend! John + I did this with the canoe.
