OK, OK it is a bit away from StA but you may be over this way. It's been a while since I have been over myself. Used to be, hands down, the best steaks in the country but everywhere else has improved since then so now is just very, very good. Restaurant can be booked. Chop House is turn up and wait.

Well, because it's there. Free to walk around. You only pay to access the museum part (small) and to up St Rules Tower. I recommend you get an annual ticket for Historic Scotland.

Whisky tour. Not a single malt, just our biggest blend. Crieff itself is a nice wee town and you drive through it if heading across to Lochearnhead, Killin, Crianlarich, Tyndrum and then Oban or Glencoe/Fort William.

Take a non-landing trip on the Calmac out of Mallaig but you need to plan for it as you'll need to stay overnight up this way somewhere. If you get the right weather this is tremendous. I've also done this in the wrong weather and spent the whole journey cuddled up on a couch trying to keep my food down. Unsuccessfully!
