Tipping At Restaurants
In Costa Rica, a 10% service charge is added to all bills. While there isn't a need to tip more, we encourage leaving something extra if you have received good service.
Getting around
Getting Around
Rental cars are the best way to get around Costa Rica. A 4x4 is encouraged in the Green Season as dirt roads are a norm and can be difficult in small vehicles.

Getting around
Highway 911 - The Monkey Trail
Waze is the preferred navigation app in Costa Rica but do not follow it blindly. If you are driving from Liberia, do not take the Highway 911 (Monkey Trail) unless you know are familiar with the road conditions. The road is dangerous in the green season and can be impassable in heavy rains.

Tap Water Quality
Generally, tap water in Costa Rica is safe to drink. We recommend bringing a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day.
