Hot air balloon competitions have been a part of warren county summers for my entire life and beyond. I have actually never been to the balloon museum, but I've always thought it would be interesting.

The Willis cabin is in Lacona which is the next neighboring town. This little cabin was donated by a local family and moved to it's current location. I stumbled upon it a few years back when in town and it's actually pretty cool for a 1 room cabin. It is furnished with items from it's time period.

Before European settlers came to this area, Native Americans lived along the rivers of Warren County. One of the most interesting characteristics of the Woodland Culture was the construction of large earthen mounds, usually found on the highest point of the ridge above the village site. The mounds are believed to have served either as burial sites for important tribal leaders or as some part of the religious ceremonies of the villagers. You can explore the mounds. Woodland Mounds also has an extensive trail system, picnic area and a portion open to hunting.
