Our family likes this area of the Smoky Mountain National Park for picnicking and "rock hopping". If you take Line Springs road, and continue East past Laurel Falls to 441, travel SE farther into the park to this area.

This is a beautiful, wooded, scenic drive best accessed through Gatlinburg by turning away from the main street at light 8. When you reach the fork in the road, stay right to reenter the park. The Roaring Fork portion is sometimes closed in winter months.
