Traveler advice
Getting around
Taxis from the airport
We are happy to arrange a taxi for you with the driver we have used for several years. He charges 25 soles and will be waiting for you with a sign.
Otherwise we recommend using Uber or taking a taxi from outside the airport.
Always agree on a price (make sure you are both talking in soles or dollars) and don't feel bullied to take an official taxi as we have heard stories of extortionate prices.
What to pack
Pack for all seasons
Four seasons in one day was written about Cusco. If it wasn't, it should have been.
You can have beautiful blue sky and within minutes it could be raining.
Homes in Cusco do not have heating so it is often colder inside than out. Though do not worry as we do have heating in the living area.
But warm clothes are a must, so are hats, shades and plenty of sunblock as the sun is super strong.
Getting around
Learn to say no
In the main square and around the historic centre you will be inundated with offers for massage, tours and products to buy. The tours are likely to be basic at best, the massages a rub down and any products of poor quality. We recommend buying tours from reputable agencies and products from physical shops.
