Beautiful historic city with so much to see. You won't cover it all in one day. The finest dining options we have ever seen in our travels! We are not posting any restaurants in Portsmouth as there are too many great ones available!
Shopping galore. One of our favorite places is Pickwicks Mercantile , adjacent to the historic Strawberry Bank.
Prescott park is right downtown and sponsors summer play events surrounded by beautiful gardens.
Check out the events at Jimmy's Jazz and Blues Club , the Seacoast Repertory Theatre, or The Music Hall for an evening of entertainment.

Dover is just 2 mi away. It is an old mill town with a variety of restaurants, breweries, and shops. My favorite is Just the Thing- see individual listing. It is close and convenient but does not match Portsmouth's charm , shopping, and sightseeing options.
