The heart of the old neighborhood - a classic, funky San Francisco coffee shop where one hears conversations and not just people silently tapping on laptops. Open mic on Fridays, jazz jam on Sundays, and other great stuff. Decent food, beer & wine in addition to coffee.

Famous for its brunch long before brunch became the dominant religious practice in San Francisco. Another holdover from when this neighborhood was known as the Fillmore. Really neat mural and artwork inside too.

This is a relatively new addition to the 'hood -- and a smash, especially with the young techies and Beautiful People. Excellent coffee and food; really nice outdoor seating. Elegant design. The only negatives are that the interior space is limited, especially at the entrance -- not a place for those that need their personal space -- and the line can be long because it's so popular.

It's excellent; there's always a line! Especially popular with young techies and Asians -- which is a good sign for a ramen shop.

Canela has truly excellent and authentic Spanish food. (My wife is from Spain and she raves about it.) The wine list is also excellent; Paco imports wines directly from Spain and has jewels you cannot find anywhere else. The service too is excellent and the atmosphere is really nice -- stylish but comfortable.

Tarragon opened during the pandemic and it replaced an neighborhood favorite, which made it really tough. However, it's fast winning fans in the 'hood with good food and good cheer. Best for breakfast and lunch.
