Point Fermin Lighthouse
807 W Paseo Del MarThe fence is at the very eastern part of Paseo Del Mar. Make sure you are wearing sturdy shoes.ACCESS: You're gonna have to work for it. Climb over the 3 foot concrete barrier at the edge of Point Fermin Park. Go towards the barred fence that blocks off Sunken City and behind a bush you will see that there is a large space dug out beneath the fence. This is pretty easy to crawl under.
Yes, you should wear closed toed shoes. There is glass everywhere. Not by accident, but by inconsiderate people who think it's fun to throw empties at the slabs and shatter them. Morons.
Other than that, it's all good! An ever-changing display of color to explore. If you're coming to take photos, come early in the day. The lighting is better from that direction. If you've been here before and just want to chill, afternoon/sunset is great. It can be pretty crowded, but it's big enough that you can post up on a slab and enjoy the view.
The water is clear and beautiful, and if you're really daring, you can climb down to the tide pools.

Gorgeous (limited sand) beach. Caters to locals as access takes some exploring but if you are seeking privacy and less adulterated Southern California waters, it's here. Plenty or nearby hiking trails. One section is open to waves while a nearby section is protected with rock formations. Originally private land that was granted to the city/county.
