Food Scene

Really beautiful restaurant with a lovely backyard - decent cocktails and great latin-american food. Get the pulpo al pastor, duck tacos, and the hanger steak. The duck chilaquiles at brunch are great too.

Brunch!!! Great, low-key vibe in here - I go almost every weekend. You can expect a little wait unless you go right at 10, but it's worth it. Good coffee, and the food is amazing. Try the green eggs and lamb or the turkish breakfast, but you really can't go wrong for brunch here. (Dinner is okay!)

Pizza!! A neighborhood favorite, and great for a weekend dinner before going out. The Saint Louie is my favorite - Provel, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Pickled Chilis.

Expensive italian with a small rotating menu, but very good. I eat here once in while, but usually I just stop in before dinner for a cocktail - they have a daily sour and a daily bitter on offer, and they never disappoint!

Mekelburg's is a specialty food shop where you can get craft beer, some prepared foods, cheeses, and CHOCOLATE BABKA that is to die for. Good place to pick up a few things to bring home.

Shopping

During the summer months, the fort greene flea is outdoors right across from Olea, my favorite brunch stuff. You can find clothes, furniture, jewelry, and a lot of other random stuff. There's a mix of secondhand stuff and new stuff, and there are a handful of good food stalls here as well.

Parks & Nature

Just a heads up that off-leash hours for dogs is before 9am and after 9pm. If you go at these times, be prepared for a lot of dogs running around! It's a pretty straightforward park - good place to set up with a blanket for an hour or two.

Neighborhood wine shop with good prices and a knowledgeable owner. If you buy wine on Thursday while their tastings are going on, they'll give you a free (hot!) loaf of bread to take with you.
