Parks & Nature
For biking or walking, the Burke Gilman trail is a wonderful option. It's a 27 mile paved former rail way that runs from Ballard near the Ship Canal in Seattle north west through to Bothell, then becomes the Sammamish River Trail for 10 more miles east to Marymoor park. A connector trail then runs east to Issaquah, giving you a total of 42 miles of unbroken trail, most of it scenic. The most convenient access point near us is at Third Place Commons, where after grabbing a latte at Starbucks you access the trail across the street. Views of Lake Washington are frequent, in fact the entire distance gives you a sense of how beautiful the pacific northwest is.

Arts & Culture
Focusing on Pacific Northwest artists from the beginning through mid-20th century, their collection treats our local artists the way they should be treated. The changing exhibits are beautifully done, and we understand that the curator has personally met most of the artists or their families. That passion and attention to detail shows in the exhibits. The free weekly art walk is great fun. There are several nearby eateries; our favorites are Arnes, Chanterelle, and good old Spud Fish & Chips. This is a fun daytime date option. Warning: the gift shop is hazardous to your wallet!
