Due to its unique natural features, magnificent forests and extraordinary geomorphologic structures, the area of Velika and Mala Paklenica was proclaimed a national park in 1949. The main reason for proclaiming this area a national park was the protection of the largest and best preserved forest complex in the territory of Dalmatia, which was threatened by overexploitation. The Paklenica National Park stretches on the area of 95 km2, and includes the highest peaks of the Velebit Mountain - Vaganski vrh (1752 m a.s.l.) and Sveto brdo (1753 m a.s.l.). It covers the area of torrent flows of Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica, and their distinctive canyons carved vertically into the south slopes of Velebit.

St. Donatus Church (Crkva sv. Donat) is one of the most iconic landmarks in Zadar, Croatia. This circular, pre-Romanesque church dates back to the 9th century and was originally dedicated to the Holy Trinity. However, it was later named after Bishop Donatus of Zadar, who is believed to have commissioned its construction. The church's unique circular shape, large central dome, and simple yet imposing stone structure make it a masterpiece of early medieval architecture. Built on the foundations of the ancient Roman forum, St. Donatus incorporates elements of Roman buildings, including columns and capitals, which can still be seen today. Although the church is no longer used for regular religious services, it is a popular historical site and now serves as a venue for cultural events, particularly concerts, due to its excellent acoustics. The church's location in the heart of Zadar's old town, surrounded by Roman ruins and close to other significant historical sites, makes it a must-visit for anyone exploring the city.
