Great wines! The Islander Estate just took a huge hit when the bush fires destroyed 95% of their vineyard, but they still have lots of great wine at their cellar door, and are determined to replant, repair and rebuild.

National Parks and Wildlife, Flinders Chase National Park
Although devastated by the Bush Fires in January 2020, the park is open to visitors 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm. The magnificent Rocky River Head quarters and The Chase Cafe were lost in the fires, so there are currently no facilities available except the essential toilets at both main attractions.
Vivonne Bay Store and Parndana are the last places you can find food.
The Park has been closed due to the bush fires which began from lightening strikes, but have just opened for the school holidays, which is awesome news. My own family visited on the weekend, and although serverley damaged, it was great to see the Rocks and the Arch, and especially all the Long Nosed Furr Seals and their babies.
View the iconic Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Some walking involved. Allow at least hours return from the Rocky from the front gate entrance.
Hiking trails are all closed.

Ways to save
Food
Buy your supeŕmarket items on the mainland if you can fit it in the car. Drakes in Kingscote is quite expensive and the Vivonne Bay Store has very few items.
Getting around
Roads
The bitumen highway does a complete circle al9ng the South Coast Road, down to Flinders Chase, up the Westend Highway and through to Parndana, Stokes Bay, and from Parndana to Kingscote and Penneshaw. All other roads are dirt and require lots of care when driving. Great advice on the gravel roads is to never hit the breaks if you are losing control, just take your foot off the accelerator. You will lose control if you hit the breaks.
What to pack
Clothing
KI often experiences cold conditions and cold winds. We advise you to pack some warm clothing any time of the year. A jumper or jacket is required nearly every night. If the weather conditions are Northerly winds, then it can be quite hot. Vivonne Bay is renowned for a lovely cool sea breeze.
