Nice vibe, surrounded by books (pay attention to the copies in the windows......). Grab a seat outside and watch the world go by. Best toilets in Hastings too!

Want fantastic fresh fish dishes? Whites in George Street is the perfect place, with amazing food and a relaxed service. Very popular so book in advance, especially if there is an event on in the town.

Hastings has amazing fish and chip shops, in our opinion Maggie's is the top of the tree. Right next to the fishermen (so they have access to the best fish if stocks run out) you will not find better. Portions are stupidly big so unless you are starving go for a regular portion. You will need to book as it only opens 12-3pm (book a fish and chip shop? I know!)

Drinks & Nightlife
On a regular night it is a nice pub/bar with a good selection of beers in a nice Old Town location. When music acts are on it turns in to a rocking venue with plenty of talent on display. Watch out for Savage Sundays.

The Crown is a bit hipster, it certainly attracts a wide range of ages all looking for a massive (and unusual) selection of beers, wines and spirits. Good food and a friendly vibe mean it's not always easy to snag a table during busy evenings but if you don't mind standing it's still worth a round or two.

The Jenny Lind is very near the house and is a great bar for relaxing (if no music on), trying their range of beers or listening to some amazing music. There is entertainment on most nights (especially during the peak season) and it's worth popping in to see what is happening. Not a huge pub but very social.

Nice bar for a night out and perfect for Sunday lunch. No chance to book tables for less than 6 but they can normally squeeze you in.

Entertainment & Activities
Hastings has arguably the best minigolf set up in the country. There is the classic Crazy Golf course (windmill, water mill, lighthouse), a Pirate course (watch out for the ship battle which takes place every 10 minutes - you'll get soaked if you are not careful!) and a longer Aztec themed course - all right on the sea front.
The course gets very busy at peak times so go early or late if possible.

If you have a child (or adult) in to BMX or skateboarding then get them along here. Built in an old swimming pool it is the UK's largest indoor skate park. Great to watch if you're not brave enough (like me) to take part.

Shopping
The owner has spent a good amount of money making this look like an old haberdashery store so it is well worth popping in here even to browse. Prices are not cheap but the quality is excellent.

Sightseeing
If you are feeling energetic take a walk up the 159 steps or use the funicular railway (watch out for opening/closing times). A lovely view across the Old Town and a relaxing way to get away from the hussle and bussle.
