They say this place is the oldest bar in the port of Valparaiso, and where the sailers used to (or still do?) hang their hats. It's certainly a cultural experience to come here - it's one of the most traditional bars in the city and you might hear some cueca music. They say it's in the dangerous part of town so if its after dark, a taxi might be your best bet.

Viña del Mar is Valparaiso's neighbouring city, but the two could not be more different. It's worth the 25 minute bus ride over to Viña, which has a long stretch of beach and high-rise apartments. The city has a more resorty and upmarket feel to it than Valpo.
To get there, take bus 612 which stops just outside the apartment.

It's just down the road from where you'll be staying, and the view is great (but the view from our balcony is better ;)).
