Well over 25 years and going strong. Italian food institution. Great spot to watch the beautiful people (Aren't we all?) Sit at one of the footpath tables and your photo will surely end up in some glossy magazine. These guys know how to run a restaurant. Just recently opened Augustus which is a very French restaurant in the old post office building at 1-3 St Mary's road. (the very beginning of Ponsonby Road)

Walk around the waterfront boardwalk and visit Jeanette and her team at Buoy. The little outdoor deck is right on the water and is very dog friendly so you can normally get your doggy fix if that's what you need. Fit looking girls and boys run around there all the time so if you're a budding track coach and you are willing to offer some free advice this just might be the spot for you

Matakana market every Saturday from about 8am is a hive of activity. Get up there early as the traffic can build up for sure. 45 minutes usually or timewarp if you leave it too late and get stuck in bumper to bumper traffice !! Omaha beach is just down the road for a lovely walk or swim. Not a lot of surf and very safe to swim. Pretty sure the sharks out there all work for Tourism NZ and are there solely to protect you from invading aliens. Stay for food and beers at The Rusty or Matakana Pub. See food listing.
