A walk round Rudyard Lake is a treat at any time of the year. More than 4.5 miles round, the route follows the lakeside along the east side and runs through the woods and behind the iconic lakeside homes on the west side. In summer its cool and shady. In the autumn, the sun dances through russet and gold leaves. In the depth of a harsh winter, the edges of the lake freeze and reflect the colours of the sunrise. In the evenings the lights of the lakeside homes shimmer above the water.
If you have children, try a trip on the Leek and Rudyard Railway - a real narrow gauge steam railway running along the lakeside.

The Upper Dane Valley drops from the upland of the Roaches to the Cheshire Plain, flowing through Back Forest & the hamlet of Wincle. The figure of eight walk from Roachside Cottage to Wincle & back is a Peak Distric classic.

Food Scene
Fantastic food and great service - even when the place is packed to the rafters (as it sometimes is!).
It's so dog friendly that you may need to borrow a dog to make you feel more "at home".
