Food Scene
If we had to recommend one place it would probably be here. Local pub on the Ashdown Forest with outstanding food. Dog friendly; 'Doggie Pubs' website says 'Located in the centre of the Ashdown Forest the Hatch has been a public house since circa 1430AD. Freehouse, serving traditional beers from a number of breweries, and excellent food ... Really popular so if you are planning to eat there after your walk on the forest get there early especially in winter. Colemans Hatch, Nr. Forest Row, East Sussex, TN7 4EJ. Telephone: 01342 822363

But its a pub too! Good food and ambience. 'Doggie pubs says' An award winning pub. Cosy and friendly - a really great find. Pub dog Widget is a fluffy poodle. For dedicated pubbers you can even walk to another doggy destination, The Horse & Groom in Rushlake Green (run by the publican's sister). Take the first right off the B2096 after leaving the A265 just after Heathfield.

Wild and woolly. Originally a deer hunting forest in Norman times, Ashdown Forest is now one of the largest free public access space in the South East. It is a great place for walking and enjoying spectacular views over the Sussex countryside and is known the world over as the 'home' of Winnie-the-Pooh.
