Eat outside on picnic tables, or at a few small tables inside. There’s ping pong tables and room for kids to run around. On Friday evenings they have karaoke. Excellent unique sandwiches and a small selection of salamis and cheese and dry goods.

Kinderhook Aviary, Bottle shop & more

Kinderhook is our favorite town center near us. A 7 min drive, it has a farmers market Saturday mornings, a great coffee shop (Morningbird), an amazing restaurant (Aviary), a super cozy wine shop (Kinderhook Bottle Shop), a great country store (OK Pantry). Definitely head here and walk around town. To us, is the perfect small town.
This is the area's best yoga studio!! For the perfect Saturday, catch a morning class and then hit up the Kinderhook farmers market (the latter is open May - October).

Coffee shop

Excellent coffee and teas and delicious baked goods. They always have delicious gluten free options too. Typically there’s one lunch option (always good) & a top notch breakfast sandwich. Food is limited but delicious. They are run by the same team as the Aviary (see restaurants).

Great bar in Kinderhook that specializes in beer (try a flight), but also has a small but nice selection of wine. For food, it’s all about fancy grilled cheese here. Other small plates available but it’s not a place for a big dinner.

Brewery/Cidery, etc

Thurs-Sat at 5pm they open their cidery, and it’s a beautiful space outside to hang out. Yummy kitchen serves up great Asian fusion food there too. The shop itself: Great year round market for fish, meat, veggies and local dry goods. We go here for all shopping and avoid the grocery store as much as possible.

Listed also under “skiing” for its cross country trails, this is a fabulous huge sculpture park for walking and picnicking. No one seems to mind if you bring a bottle of wine and big blanket and hang out near your favorite sculpture. Just don’t leave any trash behind!
