From Kensal Rise you can get the overground 20 minutes to Richmond with its high street and shops and secret side lanes and alley ways, discover the old town and Richmond Green, step back in time as you walk along the River towards Richmond Park, past pubs and lovely houses, walk through a field complete with cows and head to Petersham Nurseries - a wonderfully hidden gem of a place, where you can dine in the romantic undergrowth of the glasshouse or have coffee and cake by the old stables.

A special park, with amazing plants, information, projects, kids area and treetop walk, nice cafes in and around the park, although we take a picnic and find a hidden spot, you need to pay to get in but it is worth the peace and relative calm. There are small palaces in the grounds which are open at different times of the year, but just wandering around them is quite magical.
