Sightseeing
While visiting avery island you can tour the famous Tabasco Factory and after get lost in Jungle Gardens. Live oaks are abundant in this region as well as wild life, and you can often times spot a gator sun bathing in the water. This area is especially unique because it sits on top of a salt dome, making the topography very hilly. One of my favorite places to go in south Louisiana.

400 Cotten RoadThe Bayview inn is the closest place to the camp where you can grab a quick bite to eat, they also sell beer, alcohol, fishing poles, tackle and essentials. (Recently they sustained some hurricane damage, so their outside seating is temporarily out of commission) Hopefully it will be repaired soon, because there is nothing better than having a beer and a burger next to the water!

If you are looking to do a little venturing out, there is a small town approximately 25 mins from Da Camp, called New Iberia. They have a small historical down town with a handful of bars. I particularly enjoyed Napoleons because the buildings architecture was undisturbed and felt as though we had time traveled to the turn of the century. The walls are covered in paintings of Napoleon which I felt was appropriate given Napoleons history of being a Narcissist and his fondness of having his portrait painted of himself. This bar won’t disappoint with their large array of liquor. I ordered a gin and soda. The bartender asked if I wanted a double, but I politely declined. Luckily so, cuz let me tell you these bartenders have a heavy hand. I Last but not least, the most charming part of this bar is the tucked away court yard suited with wrought iron patio furnishings.
