Check out the new Rosebery food hub scene. Rosebery and Alexandria and Surry Hills will take you days to explore but they all have great foodie scenes. Try The Grounds/Potting Shed in Alexandria, my favourite place is the hub in Dunning Avenue Rosebery, as you'll find Three Blue Ducks - stunning paddock to plate restaurant, the Archie Rose Distillery (take a tour and relax with a beer), Messina Gelato (the HQ of Messina, where they actually create all the flavours - this buzzes until midnight in summer believe it or not!0 and breakfast/brunch and coffee at Bourke Street Bakery.

If you walk along Kingsford from the University to the Kingsford Roundabout you will find some of the best value Asian restaurants in the East. They cater for the University crowd and if it's full, then you know the students like it. If it's empty...perhaps it might be a bit pricey or not so good? Kensington, the other side of the University hosts Chairman Mao which is very spicy and rare Hunnanese food. It's a bit heavy for me but I'm told it is a rare and authentic find.
