For walking and exploring it doesn't get much better than the vast expanse of Dartmoor. We just love having Dartmoor on our doorstep.

Situated at the top of the Salcombe estuary, Kingsbridge has two good supermarkets, a Saturday farmers market and several good butchers, a grocer, Boots and WH Smiths in Fore Street.
There is also a good swimming pool and a gym at the leisure centre.

Plymouth is a surprisingly good place to shop - the city has a good covered shopping arcade, Drakes Circus (Apple, Boots, M an S, H and M etc) and a larger outdoor shopping centre nearby which is based on a grid system (so you can't get lost!).
Royal William Yard has Wagamamas, River Cottage, and a good selection of French and Italian restaurants.
The views across Plymouth Sound from the Smeaton's Tower (Eddystone) lighthouse are amazing. Don't forget Sir Francis Drake first spotted the Spanish armada from the famous bowling green.
