Parks & Nature
The Chateau at the turn of Quai des Etats Unis, also known as Castle Hill. You can spend a couple of hours up on top of the hill, following the signs for the walking trails one of which brings you to the fountain, which you will see lit up at night from the Cours Saleya (the flower market in the Old Town). There is also a lovely park up there for a picnic with some fantastic panoramic views of Nice bay and Nice Port. It’s a bit of a climb but there is a lift at the base if you don’t want to take the steps. If you do want to do the walks, I advise wearing comfortable shoes!
It may be a bit too morbid for some tastes! but there is the most beautiful graveyard with fantastic sculptural tombs and headstones up on the top of Castle Hill also, follow the signs for it.

It takes about an hour, the captain gives plenty information about celebrities homes in the bay and you get to see Nice from the sea view. It runs daily in high season.

A trip to Monaco is definitely a must! Get the train, (it takes about 20mins) or the bus No. 600, which leaves from Rue Arson in the Port (45mins). There is a lovely coastline view on this route and to get the best of the view, go upstairs on the train and sit on the side nearest the station house, or on the bus, sit on the opposite side to the driver. Other picturesque towns along this route are Villefranche and Beaulieu and are worth a visit if you have time.

Grasse
If you feel like another day trip, go to St. Paul de Vence or Eze. Both of these are old, quaint rooftop villages and well worth going to see but if you are caught for time, only go to one as they are quite similar

Food Scene
Nice is full of good restaurants, some of which are listed below.
The Cours Saleya in the Old Town (a market by day) also has numerous restaurants of every type, seafood, French, Italian and most of these are of a good standard. Also ask Claire/Christophe (your apartment managers) as well when you arrive as they live in Nice full time and would know the latest up to date hot spots to eat!
An Italian family run restaurant. In business for 50yrs, so they are definitely doing something right!
