Dan y Graig—19th-Century Farmhouse Between Sea and Mountain

As the waves break against the golden sand the sound of the sea carries up to Dan Y Graig and with stunning views across the terrain makes a stay here magical. We hope to launch our Barn conversions by 2019 so keep an eye out for exciting progress. Dan y Graig house is a Victorian Farmhouse, so we’ve endeavoured to retain as much of the charm and character its original features provide, whilst introducing contemporary elements to update its appeal and make it more suited to today’s traveller, be it walker, surfer, or a group of friends or a family wishing to spend a few days in coastal luxury. The narrow lane that winds up to the farm is a little rocky in places. You’re climbing the mountain don’t forget, but it’s worth it! Views from Dan y Graig are breath-taking, looking out directly towards St.Davids over the city golf course and then down to Whitesands beach, only 300 yards away, and of course out to the sea, Ramsey Island and the Smalls Lighthouse! Together with the magnificent backdrop of Carn Llidi mountain and the incredible coastal path providing an unbeatable setting. The spacious farmhouse accommodates up to eight guests between its four stylish bedrooms – two King rooms, a double and a twin. Each bedroom provides luxurious Goose feather and Duck Down bedding, Egyptian cotton linen and Laura Ashley towels. The bedroom near the sea will be made up using synthetic pillows and duvet just in case someone has an allergy to natural fillings. Styled in clean and bright white with warm grey tones and flashes of colour from the amazing accessories made locally – Tregwynt Woollen Mill blankets and cushions; Solva Woollen Mill rugs. Monochrome wall art by Solva artist Ian McDonald and colourful coastal landscapes by the renowned Pauline Beynon enrich the spaces. Whilst the bedrooms at the front are big and bright, with sumptuous large beds, the two at the back of the house are ‘loft style’ rooms which lead off their own little private stair. These offer a different experience, perfect for the kids or the guest who’d prefer a cosier, space. To maximise space, we’ve used specially designed loft beds that are a bit lower than usual, so you don’t knock your head on the beamed ceiling as you get up in the morning. The first floor bathroom has a bath with a unique view, relax in bubbles and gaze directly out to St.Brides bay and the coastal terrain. There’s also a fabulous glass power shower and the window has a double blind with a magic screen for whatever degree of privacy a guest requires. Traverse the levels of the house via the old staircase, finished with a Solva Woollen mill runner to enhance this magical space! A ‘sea-fearing’ inspired style comes together with hints of Alice in Wonderland to conjure ideas of another world. A modern chandelier of amber Edison light bulbs hanging like teardrops from the sky inspires the imagination. The ground floor presents ample space for relaxing and entertaining. Sit and read in the cosy but more formal ‘Parlour’- lean back into the winged back chairs, recline on the tweed chesterfield and enjoy the view. Light the log stove when there’s a storm brewing outside and relish in the comfort of being safe inside where you can plan your next adventure using the ‘Twr Y Felin’ guide to St.Davids map that hangs over the fireplace. This map is a wealth of knowledge and was created by my Great Great Uncle in 1923, and in fact once owned the farmhouse. Although re-printed in the eighties, the map is now hard to find. Gather with family or friends on the other side of the hall in the more relaxed family room that opens up into the dining space of the kitchen. It has a bright and modern feel, with two gorgeously comfortable tweed couches. Ideal for rainy days, the family room has a large smart tv for movie watching or enough space for board games and other family amusement. Another little log stove is convenient to top up the heat that the underfloor heating amply provides. There’s another spectacular view of the rugged landscape through the window, and you can also watch the kids play out on the front terrace. We opened this room up into the kitchen/diner to improve the quality of the space, giving a much freer flow and openness to the layout. If you’re busy in the kitchen, having dinner or relaxing in the family room, you can still be sociable. Enjoy dining together around a heavy rustic table. There’s room for eight to sit comfortably around the table and there’s an extra leaf hidden underneath it if you want extend the table should friends drop in. The chef of the house can cook using the Le Creuset equipment on the top of the range Rangemaster Range cooker – a five gas burner hob, with griddle fitting and three electric ovens should keep chef busy and plentiful food for everyone! Villeroy & Boch ‘Manoir’ porcelain tableware and Dartington cutlery enhance your dining experience indoors, and there’s a set of bamboo tableware if the weather’s amazing and you decide to eat outside. Who wants to do the washing up when you’re on holiday?! No one needs to as there’s a family size dishwasher just to make things easier. There’s also a six shelf Siemens fridge with three freezer drawers if you want to stock up and avoid a daily shop, which in Summer can be a nightmare. Many guests prefer to order online and get it all delivered to the farmhouse. Tucked behind the kitchen, just off the back hall is a unique little bathroom. It’s uniqueness comes from the quirky wet-room shower that’s been designed into the old chimney. It’s an amazing space and quite unique with an almost cave-like quality. Everyone should try it at least once during their stay! At the back door is a boot room with a large Belfast sink where you can wash your boots after a day’s walking rinse your flip-flops when you come home from the beach. Throw your laundry straight into the washer dryer here too. But before you go into the house, if you’ve been at the beach or out surfing, rinse away all that sand under the outside shower and then hang your wetsuits out to dry. You’ll also find an outside tap and hose if you need to wash down a muddy dog! The farmhouse has a terrace at the front which overlooks the old farm yard where you can park your cars safely. This will change when we renovate the old barns around the yard later this year, but we’ll have created a more bespoke parking area behind the house by then. The Terrace itself is a great space. Its south facing and has the most amazing views so is ideal all day for sitting in and chilling, picnicking, or enjoying a glass of Champagne as the sky turns red with the setting sun. Dan y Graig is ideally located for those wanting to stay by the sea. Our award winning, blue flag beach Whitesands is just down the lane about 300yds, so there’s no need to drive and park as you can almost roll out of bed onto the sand. It’s on the coastal path, take a hike up to the top of Carn Llidi or around to Porth Melgan and St.Davids Head or go in the other direction towards Porth Sele amd St.Justinian where you’ll find three centuries of Lifeboat stations nestled in a bay. Enchantment and adventure is at your fingertips, no matter which way you go. I'm generally around locally most of the time and more than happy to help with any queries during your stay. Sculpted into the landscape at the foot of Carn Llidi mountain, Dan Y Graig is just 300 yards from the blue-flag beach below. Take the coast path, hiking to Porth Melgan and St.David's Head, and the other way to Porth Sele and St.Justinian.

You will immediately be captivated by this overlooking sea view. The sun loungers invite you to rest and contemplation: sea, sky, cliff, century-old pines. From the vast landscaped garden a path down to the beach. This magnificent cottage has retained all the charm of tradition. Its old-style roof, cozy decor, and sea views call for a serenity of another time :relax by the fire after long walks in the Cote d 'Albâtre. Veulettes: the countryside by the sea, a very small seaside resort with a little old-fashioned charm (35 km from Étretat Charming typical Norman cottage with its thatched roof, its half-timberings, its pleasant flowered garden. You will be captivated by this dominant view of the sea and the cliff. Bright ,comfortable house with refined decoration. Extensive stay ,where you can spend beautiful evenings by the fire. The kitchen is new and very well equipped ,there is the necessary and the superfluous to cook.. normal coffee maker and nespresso, squeegee machine,waffle iron,etc...spices The house has 4 bedrooms: -2 rooms with a double bed including 1 sea view. -1 bedroom with 2 single beds. -1 bedroom called "cabin",very small:5m2 with window , a bed of 190*80 Hi-Fi, CD , DVD BBox fiber:Wi-Fi excellent speed 388 TV channels,Bouquet Press . books , comics,board games,toys ( Kappla,Lego,Labyrinth of marbles) Barbecue , garden furniture and teak sunbathing. Badmington, petanque games,Molki. You're at home! This cottage is our family refuge for holidays or weekends away from the hustle and bustle of Paris. We fully restored most of it ourselves in 2016,and we hope to continue to make improvements each year. We leave our memories ,our old family furniture patina by the time or refurbished to the taste of the day. There is everything to spend great times together both inside and out. I have no doubt that you will love the place and its magnificent view as much as we love it! Veulettes is a tiny little seaside resort. As much as the village is lively in season ,as many in winter there are only 2 restaurants ,the micro casino,and the grocery/bakery open! But this region and its walks are sublime summer and winter! We will send you by email a small guide of the place and the region ,we leave many guides,as well as hiking directions in the house: You will never have time to see everything, to do everything! You'll have to come back! Excellent stay in the Alabaster coast and Pays de Caux! A private path allows access to the beach and the center quickly (600 meters) This dirt road is sloping,and it is not passable in a stroller. Veulettes, a tiny seaside resort with a little old-fashioned charm, is located in the heart of the Alabaster Coast and the Pays de Caux. Water activities, tennis, golf, many hiking trails, casino. By the GR 21 you will walk along the sea, the cliffs, and discover breathtaking landscapes, summer and winter, mansions and sumptuous gardens. Maupassant region, loved by Monet and the Impressionists, it is also a gastronomic stage. You won't have time to see everything! By car: 2 hours from Paris (200km),if traffic allows... 50 minutes from Le Havre , 1 hour 10 minutes from Honfleur 35/40 minutes from Dieppe or Etretat 45 minutes from Rouen Veules les Roses 15 minutes Varengeville 3O minutes Sncf Station the nearest Yvetot 35 km(Paris st Lazare/Yvetot: 1h50) Then coach connection sncf to St Valery en Caux or Cany Barville (9 km each from Veulettes) Ferry: Dieppe Bed linen and towels are a paid option: 15€/person. Ask one week in advance. In the kitchen,I leave at your disposal a kitchen and grocery store to facilitate your installation. With this in mind: Please replace what you finish so that the next ones can enjoy the same service. There is a Nespresso machine, remember to bring your capsules! even if we always try to leave you a few.

Stroll on the pier with its arts and crafts stalls at weekends, old fashion amusement arcades, a fab old time bingo hall, original bandstand with lots of events in summer. The perfect spot for a romantic break. Historic Canterbury (7 miles) and the charming town of Whitstable (4 miles) is a short drive or bus journey away. There is a cycle path on the seafront that will take you to Whitstable one direction and Margate, Broadstairs and beyond the other. Herne Bay is a charming quintessentially British seaside town with lovely, quirky, and independent shops, as well as great restaurants and cafe's, coastal walks and cycle paths to Whitstable & Reculver Towers and beyond—a perfect place to wander. I will send you a comprehensive list with some amazing places to eat drink, walks to enjoy and places to visit. Local busses to Canterbury and Whitstable. Herne Bay station is a 10/15 min walk or £3 taxi ride from the apartment. The station serves all of the Kent coast, Whitstable - 7 mins - Margate - 15 mins - Broadstairs and its sandy beaches - 20 mins. London Victoria and London St Pancras International easily reached in 1 hour and 20 mins approx. Note: A minimum 2 night stay applies all year round.

Reimagined 1715 Beachfront Cottage with Terrace

Escape to the country in this fisherman's cottage right on the beach. The home has been tastefully redecorated, featuring rustic wood flooring and accents, a cosy fireplace, beamed ceilings, light touches of colour, and panoramic views. The building is a 1715 fisherman's cottage, so expect low ceilings and small windows looking onto the Main St. At the back, the house has been extended, so the windows are large, looking onto our deck with the sea-wall at the end of the garden. There's a low wall between ours and the neighbours' houses. The kitchen is large and equipped for living, not just holidaying. So if you have gastronomic ambitions, go wild: it's a pleasure to cook and eat in as you watch the light change over the sand-dunes. The living-room is low-beamed, so watch your head. There's a gas fire for cosiness without hassle, 2 armchairs and a big sofa, with loads of cushions on all of them. The TV is a 46-inch SmartTV, so with the fibre internet (40 Mb/s) you can stream Netflix, iPlayer, etc. Upstairs, the twin room faces over the main street. The beds have memory-foam mattresses, velvet headboards and their own reading lamps. There's a big chest of drawers for your clothes. The double room has a built-in wardrobe, kingsize bed with antique wood-panelled headboard and memory-foam mattress. It also has a huge bay window looking out to sea. There's a small en-suite with toilet and shower. We've just refurbished the family bathroom, so it's immaculate with rainfall shower, bath and underfloor heating. You'll have the place to yourself. It is a great area for bird watching and walking. The property is in Ravenglass with its steam railway and Roman ruins. There are pubs, a supermarket, tea rooms, and much more nearby. Parking: we have space for one car at the front of our house. If you bring a second car, there is free parking at the station, which is a 2-minute walk. Trains: Ravenglass is well-known for its trains, with 2 stations. As well as being on the coastal line that runs from Carlisle round to Lancaster, it is home to the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. This is a narrow-gauge line that runs 11km (7 miles) up Eskdale through splendid scenery. Beautiful steam and diesel engines run, and it's perfect for letting everyone in your group enjoy an end-of-walk pint or three.

Wake up in the morning to fresh coffee at the coffee bar. Kick off sandy shoes after a walk along the Viking Coastal Trail. Soak in the tub that's looking out to sea. Spin original vinyl on the record player. Read papers on the balcony. Shake up cocktails from the honesty bar. Meditate with a view of the water in the yoga corner. Open the games chest. Host candlit dinners in the dining space. We reckon you'll leave feeling good. * Private yoga classes available upon request * Private chefs available upon request * Massage, reflexology, reiki, we can sort out any therapies that you fancy The whole space is yours. There's a shared garden out the back, but we prefer taking out a floor cushion and chilling out on the back staircase. It's a suntrap. There's parking on the street out front, or around the back of the property. There's a real creative energy in Margate, with awesome independent bars, restaurants, studios, and shops. The pink sunsets are amazing too. Discover one of the best sandy beaches in England, or walk along the Viking Coastal Trail. You can walk everywhere in Margate. There is free parking on the street outside, but if it's busy there is Trinity Square car park around the back of the property which is £5 for 24 hours. We are pet friendly!
