There are numerous transportation options within Christchurch CBD.
WALK
Christchurch is an incredibly walkable city. The main CBD area has a very flat terrain, and there are all varieties of street art, eateries and shopping to be discovered along the way. Exploring on foot also means there is no need to navigate through roadworks and road closures, of which there are plenty given the massive post-earthquake rebuild effort.
CYCLING
Christchurch is a city of renewal and this forward thinking has made cycling an integral part of its public transport system. Consider signing up for a bike-sharing service where you can share a bike for as little as $4/h . Check out the Christchurch city council website for cycle maps or the Transport for Christchurch website.
CAR RENTAL
All the major car rental and campervan companies (Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar, Ezi, Hertz, Thrifty) are located inside the International Arrivals Hall, near the domestic baggage reclaim and provide vehicles on pre-booked or walk-up basis. Rental cars can be picked up and dropped off at Christchurch Airport.
Some other rental car operators provide a pick up and drop off transfer shuttle service to their depot for pre-booked customers. Rental car transfer courtesy shuttles are located outside the Regional Lounge (exit through Doors 1 or 2).
BUSES
The new Bus Interchange is located on the corner of Lichfield St and Colombo St, Christchurch Central. The Bus Interchange is 500 metres away (or a 6 minute walk). Uber is widely used in Christchurch, and is definitely our personal preference. Much cheaper than taxis and the opportunity to review drivers often results in a better quality service. Make sure to download the app and have it operational before you need to use it.

Shuttles provide a door-to-door service to all parts of Christchurch and some surrounding areas using multi-passenger vans. A shuttle can be cheaper than a taxi but you will usually share the van with other passengers and the shuttle may stop at other destinations before your own.
Travel time from the city centre to the airport and vice versa is approximately 20-25 minutes, however, you should allow additional time during peak times, and for the shuttle to make stops for other passengers. Prices vary by shuttle company and you are advised to ask before beginning your journey.
The shuttle rank is located outside the International Arrivals Hall, next to the taxi rank (exit through door 7).
You can book a shuttle by calling 0800 SHUTTLE (0800 748885).

UBER
Uber is widely used in Christchurch, and is a good option for a trip from the city to the airport. It is advisable that you book an Uber ride in advance if you plan to travel very early in the morning or very late at night.
While this apartment is located in the Quest Hotel Building, it is a private residence and therefore completely separate from the hotel.
The hotel reception and housekeeping are for guests of the hotel only. We have a wonderful relationship with the Quest Hotel Management, and we ask that our guests respect this relationship by being polite and considerate towards hotel guests and staff.
Check-ins must be between 3:00pm and 9:45pm.
While the apartment does not come with a carspace, there is a public car park located on Worcester Street directly next to Cathedral Junction - $8-$12 per 24 hours.
Please be aware that Christchurch City is undergoing a lot of construction and road closures affect the entire city area. We would recommend allowing for extra travel time.
