Traveler advice
Ways to save
Using your contactless card/ Oyster travel card
Instead of buying day tickets to travel on the London Tube/ red buses, you can load money on to an Oyster card which you need to tap in the bus/ train stations, and it caps the day’s travels at a certain amount which is much cheaper than buying tickets. Easy hack: if you use a contactless payment card to tap on journeys, it caps the payment just like an Oyster card, just remember to use the SAME card throughout the journey to save money.
Getting around
London buses DO NOT ACCEPT CASH.
All London red buses are now cashless, so you’d either need a loaded Oyster card or a contactless payment card to travel.
Ways to save
Second London bus journey within the same hour is free
If you tap into a second London red bus within an hour of tapping into your first bust journey, the second journey is not charged.
What to pack
Carry an umbrella & sunglasses!
No matter what time of the year it is or what weather, London can surprise you with random bouts of rain or bright sunshine ( even though it’s freezing!) I’d recommend to always carry a light umbrella and sunglasses so you’re never caught out.
