Tips from locals
This is the fire hydrant that kept working during the 1906 quake and fire and enabled firefighters to stop the fire in the Mission.
The 1906 miracle hydrant which sprang to life despite no water pressure. This hydrant saved the men, women and children who fought a wall of fire for three days following the Great San Francisco Earthquake using nothing but the wine and beer they'd saved in their cellars. Check it out then have a drink in the park just like they did.
