It is a fun place to walk around. You can go early (very) and see the fishermen bringing in the fish to sell. Just walk around and see all the boats moored or have a bite at any of the restaurants.
The port is among the oldest in the world. It has a sea, ancient construction and an Arab and Jewish population that live together. It is a center of culture, commerce, recreation and leisure.
One of the oldest known harbours in the world, the port of Jaffa was mentioned in the Bible (as Joppa) and was once the disembarkation point for pilgrims to the Holy Land. Up until recent decades, it was also where Jaffa oranges were stored and exported all over the world. In recent years, Old Jaffa Port has been developed as a cultural attraction, whilst retaining its operations as a working port from where tens of fishermen head off into the Mediterranean each night. Many of the old hangars have been converted into versatile spaces which are often hosting exhibitions of art and photography.
