Another great hiking trail, and one of the beat 14ers in Colorado. You can take this trail to the top of Longs if you want an epic, extremely arduous and very long hike, or if you want to make it a little easier you can take it to Chasm Lake at the base of Longs Peak. Both are very big, challenging days.
For experienced and hardy mountaineers, this is the place to start to climb the highest peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. People who expect to reach the summit of Longs Peak via the Keyhole route usually begin hiking at 3 AM. The weather can be unpredictable, but in the summer, it is a good idea to leave the summit before afternoon clouds arrive. It is a long and arduous hike with the reward of high country vistas.

A must see while visiting Colorado. Great hiking, biking and sight seeing.
Many like the challenge of hiking the Long's Peak trail. Long's is one of over 50 14-ers in Colorado (higher than 14,000 feet altitude). Hikers have underestimated how difficult this climb is...and...how COLD. IF YOU GO: dress in layers, bring water, turn back BEFORE you are overly tired.
