This is a great place for a picnic with a beautiful view of the lower Columbia River, or a day-hike up the hill for even better views. The history is also fascinating, with old bunkers to explore.
The beachfront at the base of Ft Columbia, on the Washington side of the river, is a perfect spot for photos! Park by the highway and walk 0.25 miles to the beach and find this secret cove!
On your way to cape disappointment, this is a fun little stop. Down by the river there is a small trail that takes you down to pirates cove. Here you can climb over the rocks and have an incredible view of the Columbia. This is a fun picnic spot. The upper part of the park has a trail that takes you into the forest filled with large spruce trees.
This can be a popular stop for sight-seers on their way to and from the peninsula. You can pull in and drive up the hill for a great view of the Columbia Bar, but there is also an idyllic little beach just a short hike from the lower parking lot. Looking for an uncrowded hike on a busy weekend? Drive up the hill and away from the water for an easy uphill hike into the forest. There's a neat surprise at the end!
