Merchant City is the place to be when visiting Glasgow for a bit of nightlife and food and drink. Right on our doorstep we love this area. Vibrant, chic, relaxed everything goes in the most cosmopolitan part of town. Something for everyone from a traditional bar to high end cocktails

Town Centre – East Side Merchant City – lots of cool bars, restaurants, The Police Museum, etc, etc. (1.9) The Britannia Panopticon – the oldest music hall in the world. People’s Palace – museum of Glasgow people from 1750 till today. Enjoy refreshments in the stunning greenhouses. (1.7) Glasgow Green – The city’s oldest Park. Events eg fireworks displays, fairs, concerts etc often held here. You might be lucky enough to see the boating club in action along the river.

The Merchant City is the epicentre of Glasgow's historical merchant wealth, housing the tobacco lords and cotton kings. Two centuries later, the Merchant City has been brought back to life as a lively cultural quarter. The streets and lanes closest to the Clyde are packed with studios, workshops and galleries, while thoroughfares closer to Ingram Street have some of Glasgow's best loved bars and restaurants - including Babbity Bowster on Blackfriars Street which is famed for its wholesome fare and idiosyncratically Glaswegian atmosphere. The Mechant City Festival Takes Place in July.
