Tips from locals
Discover the story of a Yorkshire community on the side of the Pennines The museum collection galleries tell the story of the people who have created Saddleworth’s landscape and character. The museum has something for all the family, is wheelchair friendly, and presents its’ collections, shop and facilities in a thoroughly modern way within the carefully restored fabric of a building dating back to 1862. Our canal-side community gallery provides additional space for the local community and is the scene of varied art exhibitions, presentations, museum fundraising events and learning activities. Saddleworth Museum and Gallery is a registered charity (no. 528225) and fully accredited museum (no. 191). We are primarily independently funded relying on visitor admissions, gallery income, fundraising events and donations.

Independent museum in Uppermill sitting along the canal. It shows a collection of history of Saddleworth and well worth a look.
Lots of the local wool and cotton manufacturing history, plus some of our Yorkshire traditions
Great for spending an hour looking back in time at the workings and culture of the area.
