Tips from locals
Market Square Park is one square block, bounded by Milam, Preston, Travis and Congress. Blankets, lawn chairs, food and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome anytime, including park events. Alcohol is not allowed to be brought into the park; beer and wine is sold at Niko Niko’s.
The original heart of community activity in downtown Houston, combining live entertainment, tasty temptations, shady walkways, and dog runs to rival all dog runs. Reminiscent of another era where neighbors gather. Take a blanket and your appetite!
We like Market Square Park because it has lots packed into a small space; park just one time and enjoy a variety of activities. There's the park, an adjacent dog park, on-site restaurants, a full schedule of events and the entire thing is ringed by some of the oldest buildings in Houston ... which just happen to house some fun, funky bars and eateries.
