A handbuilt Japanese house from 1953 given to Philadelphia as a peacemaking gesture by Japan after Pearl Harbor/WWII. It was originally installed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It moved to this location in 1957 after a fire damaged a Japanese Buddhist temple at the site, which had been standing since the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition.
