Stunning, Amazing, must be done while in Gran Canaria. That place makes you realise the greatness of nature
Access to this gorge, today known as the Viewpoint and previously as the Seamen’s Pass, was gained along the dangerous steep cliffs by daring orchilleros, peasant shepherds who used to extract the valuable lichen (the raw material used in fabric dye) from the orchilla plant growing here; and especially, seamen who would make their way down through here to the coves and beaches in search of traditional fish and seafood. This is the ancient part of Gran Canaria; a volcanic island which emerged from the sea some 15-14.5 million years ago, and which, in over a million years, in the shape of a shield, advanced a few kilometres towards the sea.

This spectacular viewpoint is in the far west of Gran Canaria and hangs over the sea at the top of a steep cliiff edge with spectacular views out over the Atlantic Ocean. From the viewpoint you get a clear view of a zigzag wall of sea cliffs called the “Dragon’s Tail”. Turning back to look at the island you see the La Arena Valley and the wide, green La Aldea de San Nicolás

Desde este mirador podrás disfrutar de la costa oeste de la isla, totalmente diferente a la cara este. Enormes acantilados, playas de arena negra y un mar azul profundo caracterizan la costa norte y oeste de Gran Canaria.
