Breath taking views of Playa Sucia. Go with your MTB bike or use the trails to walk.
The Cabo Rojo Lighthouse (and the road leading to it) is a very special place. Hike up to "El Faro" to enjoy the views and stay afterward for a beach day at Playuela. Be careful if bringing children as the cliffs are very steep and windy sometimes. On your way to the lighthouse (it is a 10-minute drive from Camino del Mar) stop to check out the "salinas", or salt flats.

Located at 20 minutes drive from my location, this lighthouse was constructed in 1882 in order to guide passing ships through the southeast entrance from the Caribbean Sea through the treacherous Mona Passage into the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse is located over a white lime cliff which is surrounded by salt water lagoons and marshes. The cliffs surrounding the lighthouse drop over 200 feet into the ocean.
