Tips from locals
Formerly "Phil Johnson's General Store", new building, same crowd - just older. Good food or place to grab whatever it was you forgot to get in Brunswick!
A local gathering spot and great place to grab a quick sandwich, cup of coffee or drink. My kids think they make really good pizza and make me drive out of the way to get some.
Giant Stairs walking path and rocky features. Beautiful ocean views and nature walk.
Bailey Island. Just go. Don’t fight it. About 35-40 minutes away. A grouping of islands, all connected by bridges, and called Harpswell. Bailey Island is one of them. Go there. For scenic views, to feel like you’ve fallen into Maine heaven, to take beautiful walks, and to check out our favorite gift shop. Places we love there: The Giant’s Staircase (easy, STUNNING walk along the rocky coastline), Cooks Lobster and Ale House (sometimes we just go there for an order of fries & to find treasures on their beach), and the Land’s End Gift Shop. I don’t know what it is about the Land’s End Gift Shop (maybe it’s the incredible views, their little beach, the moving lost-at-sea lobsterman statue, their homemade fudge, or all of the Maine things that I never knew I needed so badly in my life!) but we make trips out there more than I would like to admit. I haven’t done all of the hiking trails out on Bailey Island, but I am told that they are all great.
