Rich, mildy spicy (or spiced to your taste!) Ethiopian cuisine is a must experience! Sizeable portions and side dishes. Lunch specials and combos. BYOB. No wifi. Veggie & vegan options.

Hawi is an Ethiopian restaurant and one of my new favorite places in town. The food is all served family style and eaten by hand with Injera (pancakes.) There is a wine store across the street or stop at a brewery to bring in something to drink as they are a BYOB.

When we moved here, one of the few things we felt Ithaca's food scene was missing was Ethiopian food. The food gods must have heard our plea because up popped Hawi! This is one of our top faves...we simply could not imagine our life now without Ethiopian food and Hawi is honestly the best that we've tried anywhere we've traveled. You won't regret it. Traditionally prepared to be enjoyed with your hands and shared for your entire table, but ask for an individual plate and fork if you prefer!
