Admire the giant Buddha statue & colorful paintings on Tibetan myths, attend a prayer service by the resident monks and surrender yourself to the peace and serenity here. The Namdroling Nyingmapa Monastery (or Thegchog Namdrol Shedrub Dargye Ling) is the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world. Located in Bylakuppe, part of the Mysuru district of the state of Karnataka, the monastery is home to a sangha community of over five thousand lamas (both monks and nuns), a religious college (or shedra) and hospital.

After the Dalai Lama was banished from Tibet, the Indian Govt gave the Tibetians sanctuary. The first and largest settlement is in Dharmashala, Himachal Pradesh and the second largest settlement is in Bylukoppa, Coorg, Karnataka. The Golden Temple is a breathtaking place to visit to understand the Tibetian culture. The settlement around the temple has many interesting shopping spots to pick up curios and other merchandise.
